My Commitment to the Preservation and Promotion of Igbo Language and Culture

My name is Dr. Emmanuel Ihechi Asonye, and I am the Inventor and CEO of Omenka App. The app was born from a deep desire to preserve and promote the rich Igbo language and cultural heritage through innovative technology and community engagement.

Inspired by my 2013 article, “UNESCO’s Prediction of Igbo Language Death: Facts and Fables,” and the ensuing discussions among Igbo scholars and speakers, I felt driven to preserve my cultural identity. In 2024, Omenka App emerged as a modern tool to promote Igbo literacy. I’m grateful for the recognition of our efforts and remain committed to this cause.
